Interview Quickie with Ben Tollady

How would you explain to your grandparents what you do for a living? I talk to people about how they do things on the Internet, then design new things that are better and easier for them to use.

Something you recently saw online that made you go “wow”: I love the gallery of “awesome people hanging out together”. And the genius here should not be underestimated either.

What’s the most exciting thing you recently did offline? I’ve recently become a father, which is very exciting! So most of my offline time of late is spent playing with my new daughter and changing nappies. I’m smitten, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s something you always wanted to do and never had time for? I’ve always dreamt of designing my own range of furniture. I’d also love to go back and explore more of India one day.

If you had to sum up your life motto in 40 words or less, what would it be? “Work hard and be nice to people.” Inspired by Anthony Burrill’s great prints.

Ben Tollady is a UX Designer at Thirst Studios. In our Quickie series we ask folks from around the web 5 simple questions each to be answered within 40 words or less.
